Brian Hedstrom - Director of Community Development/General Counsel

Brian Hedstrom is a lawyer from Lakeport, California, a small town on Clear Lake which is north of the Bay Area a couple hours. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California at Davis and his Juris Doctorate from the University of San Francisco School of Law.

Brian's tennis playing experience includes high school tennis, junior tennis (both Northern California Tennis Association and Sonoma County Junior Tennis Association), and varsity college tennis at both UC Davis and USF. Brian has taught tennis to individuals and groups, beginners to advanced players, kids and adults, both privately and as a pro for private tennis clubs, resorts and a couple universities.

Brian wanted to create a non-profit corporation such as TennisForKids.org so he could give back to the community. "I wanted to do some volunteer work after the 9/11 attacks, but traditional volunteer work didn't seem the answer. I love working with kids and I enjoy teaching the game. Tennis has given me a hard work ethic, discipline, and has taught me how to overcome obstacles. It has also shown me the importance of friends and family and the camaraderie of competitive sports. I didn't start playing tennis seriously until I started high school so I missed out on a lot of opportunities. I want to give kids, especially disadvantaged kids, the chance to learn the game at a young age when they have more of an opportunity to seriously develop their tennis skills should they decide tennis is a sport they wish to competitively pursue. Even if they do not pursue competitive tennis, they will have the opportunity to learn and develop important life skills and values."

Brian currently serves as the organization's Director of Community Development and helps out in any way he can.
